~second installment of "holiday favorites"

Now for the second installment of "holiday favorites"........

Last Christmas I had this yummy (husband approved!) bar/square (I seem to cut everything into squares! It's easier!) to share. The original recipe came from an older lady many years ago and has evolved into something that is quicker, easier and cheaper to make!!!
It is soooooooooo good and devoured very very quickly!! Will for sure be making it again this Christmas...
Chocolate peanut butter bars
Base:
1 cup butter softened
1/2 cup sugar
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
2 tbs cocoa powder
Blend together well until mixture resembles small crumbs. Press into a well greased 9x13 pan and bake at 350F for about 13 minutes depending on your oven. The idea is to have the base half way baked.
Filling:
1 block of cream cheese softened (250g)
2 eggs
2/3 cup sugar
3/4 cup peanut butter
blend well with a hand held electric mixer and spread over baked base. Bake for an additional 15 minutes depending on your oven. Allow to cool before spreading the topping on.
Topping:
2 cups chocolate chips
1/2 cup whipping cream
Melt and mix then spread over baked and cooled filling.
Cool COMPLETELY before attempting to cut! Serve at room temperature.

Oh my....these look so yummy! Chocolate and peanut butter are my two very favorite flavors together! I'm sooooo going to have to make these. We made your marble squares last night, only we improvised because we didn't have any chocoate chips. I made a chocolate cream cheese frosting instead and it was so yummy. LOVE all your recipes when I get a chance to get on here! Thanks for posting. (((hugs))))
