A hearty soup...naturally gluten free

I made this hearty soup the other day...it's Hungarian Goulash soup...I was too lazy to peel carrots as my recipe says so I used frozen peas and carrots that I had in my freezer in a neat little bag...yes i do cheat sometimes:):) Anyway since it's naturally gluten free I thought it would be fitting to share the recipe here....

Hungarian Goulash soup

2 tbs oil

1 diced onion

1 1/2 pounds cubed beef (stew meat)

water~enough to fill a medium sized pot

1/2 tsp garlic powder(I leave it out because I can't have it, Instead I added 1 tsp Italian herb blend and a tsp of oregano)

1/2 tsp pepper

2 tsp salt

1 tbs parsley flakes

5 carrots chopped (I used a big cereal bowl full of frozen peas and carrots)

1 red pepper chopped

4 cubed potatoes

Method:

Fry the onions in the oil then add all other ingredients minus the potatoes.(and in my case minus the peas and carrots) Cook on low until meat in tender then add potatoes(and peas and carrots) and keep cooking until potatoes are done.

ENJOY your gluten free soup!

This is a great recipe. I went to Hungary for the first time in March and this was by far my favorite dish I had there. I made the soup the other day using your recipe and it came out great! Perfect for a rainy day. I did, however, add another ingredient - chickpeas. I decided to add Chunky Chickpeas from Tasty Bite and the added texture and flavors went really well with the original recipe. I definitely recommend trying this as well as checking out the rest of Tasty Bite's products - almost all are gluten free. Thanks for the delicious recipe - it was very nostalgic!

I'm glad you liked it! Also I normally add "vegeta"...that's a seasoning that closely resembles what they use in Hungary...but it isn't gluten free so I didn't include that ingredient on this blog and I can't have that seasoning anyway:) But with that...now then it would REALLY taste like the real thing!!:):)
